Three Days in September
We didn't plan to make a record. The songs turned up while we were working out what to play on the November tour. Next week we go into the studio to catch them before they cool, and until we walk in that door you can put your name to it.

Three days at a studio in Glasgow, the whole band live in the room. No months of overthinking. An honest document of this band playing these songs, finished properly and ready to share in October.
We've spent the summer at home, starting to think about new songs for a tour we're announcing for November. Somewhere between thinking about what we might play, trying things out and the cups of tea, new songs started arriving. Not one or two. Enough that we kept looking at each other thinking: that's a record.
The sensible thing would be to sit on them until next year, book a long studio block, do it all properly. We're not doing the sensible thing. And because it's all happening so fast, we thought: why not leave the door open.
Right now, that is all the record is: songs, a band, and three booked days. Nobody, us included, knows exactly what it turns into once we start playing. Come in this week and you're part of it before it's finished.
One date matters. The door is open until Tuesday 1 September at 10pm, the night before we go in. This is for those of you who backed the record before it existed, because once we're in the studio, it exists.

Seven of us, one room, three days, playing songs that are still new to us too. If this week gives us more scope than the three days alone need, it's guest players we're most likely to spend it on, where a particular song calls for something extra.

What comes in changes what we can make. We're going to make the album no matter how many people support it, but everything that comes in this week helps us make the best record we possibly can. That might mean more time on the mix, bringing in a special guest where a song calls for one, or simply giving ourselves a little more room to follow an idea when it appears. The more support we get, the more freedom we have to let the recording become what it wants to be.
What you'll see
The Keek
A keek is a wee look. It's a private page, just for the folk who came in, running from now through to the discs going in the post. It'll be busiest during the campaign and the three studio days; after that, expect occasional updates as the record moves through finishing, artwork and manufacture rather than something new every day.
Photos off our phones, twenty-second clips, voice notes recorded walking to the car, the whiteboard with the running order half crossed out. The takes that worked and the ones that fell apart. It isn't tidy and it isn't meant to be. It's what it actually looks like when a record gets made in three days.
Social media will get the story of this record eventually. The Keek is looking over our shoulder while it happens.
Nothing from it goes public while the campaign is running.

The details
Yes. You get exactly the same things either way; anything above the asking price goes straight into what the record can be. Type whatever you like into the amount box at checkout.
Everyone who comes in is named on the album's supporters page here on the site, and it stays up. Printed sleeve credits go to In the Room and Executive Producer. A CD booklet only holds so many names, and we'd rather print fewer properly than squeeze everyone in at a size nobody can read.
Tuesday 1 September at 10pm, and it doesn't reopen. Everything comes off sale together so that everyone who's coming in is in before the studio content starts.
Because what comes with it doesn't scale, and the Green Room only works as a conversation at that size. There won't be more.
It happens live online on Thursday 1 October. Everyone in In the Room and Executive Producer gets the link and the exact time by email a few days before. Executive Producers join half an hour early for the Green Room, then the record plays for everyone together. If you can't be there on the night, you'll be able to watch it back afterwards. The live session itself only happens once.
Once the November tour is announced, we'll ask which headline show you'd like to come to, and your two places will be on the door under your name. Eligible just means the headline dates where the guest list is ours to give. Soundcheck depends on the venue and the day, so we'll confirm what's possible for your show nearer the time.
The album arrives digitally on Friday 9 October. CDs are posted in late October. The vinyl edition, included with In the Room and Executive Producer, follows separately when it's pressed. Pressing plants are running long lead times just now, so realistically that's two to three months after the CD, sometimes more. We don't have an exact date yet, we'll post one on The Keek as soon as the plant gives us one.
Where physical shipping is available, postage is calculated at checkout for your country, and any import charges at your door are set by your own country, not by us. If that looks like more hassle than it's worth, the digital edition is there from £18 and arrives instantly wherever you are.
